READERS' THEATRE OF NEW WORKS

Dear Artists:

Thank you for inquiring about the Readers’ Theatre of New Works, a component of the 2013 National
Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 - August 3, 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC.

One of the integral components of the Festival is the Readers’ Theatre of New Works. The series is
designed to showcase the work of minority playwrights plays.  Garland Lee Thompson, Executive
and Artistic Director of the Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop, is the curator of the series.

The series is made up of two components.

New Plays At High Noon

Theatre Conversations At Midnight. Seating is limited
at the Midnight readings.

Submission guidelines for the Readers Theatre of New Works
will be posted at a later date.

NBTF FILM FEST

Thank you for inquiring about the NBTF Film Fest, a component of the 2013 National Black Theatre
Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 - August 3, 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC.

This event recognizes independent filmmakers for their enormous contributions to the industry.
African Americans have long made a profound change in the landscape of cinematic expression.
Many of these changes are due to the hard work and dedication of African American artists behind
the camera.
Below is information on how to submit materials for the NBTF Film Fest. Please be aware of all
deadline dates because they differ for each component.

DEADLINE:  NBTF Film Fest submissions must be received by May 1, 2013 at 5:00pm.

In order for NBTF to notify you promptly, each submission package must include the following:

A formal letter of introduction clearly stating the following:
-  Name of presenter, address, city, state, zip code, office numbers (phone/fax), e-mail
A DVD of the complete film short (30 minutes or less) submitted to NBTF office
Film synopsis
Printed reviews of film. Identify the publication (s). Send copies only
Highlight of celebrity performers

A $25.00 submission fee to cover administrative expenses.

LARRY LEON HAMLIN SOLO PERFORMANCE SERIES

Dear Artists:

Thank you for inquiring about the Larry Leon Hamlin Solo Performance Series (LLHSPS), a component
of the 2013 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 - August 3, 2013 in Winston-
Salem, NC.

The Larry Leon Hamlin Solo Performance Series (LLHSPS) is dedicated and named in honor of the
NBTF founder, focus is exclusively on historical biographies. The objective of the series is to provide
a medium for professional artists to expose their work to presenters and sponsors seeking
entertainment for their schools, institutions, and organizations. The series serves as an educational
tool by bringing to life, through theatre, the biographies of known and unknown African Americans.

Below is information regarding the submission guidelines for the Larry Leon Hamlin Solo Performance
Series.  Please be aware of all deadline dates as they differ for each component.

A DVD of the complete play submitted to NBTF office.
Play synopsis
?Works-in-progress or projects that have not been fully mounted before an audience will not be
accepted.
The show must be based on a historical character (living or dead)
The show must be 60 minutes or less.
Printed reviews of play. Identify the publication(s). Send copies only.
Identify celebrity performers.
A $25.00 submission fee to cover administrative expenses.
